It is my sad duty to report the demise of Rebecca Rabbit, alias Beelzebun Demon Bunny of
DOOM. One of the Maison Des Girrafe's more colourful characters, she arrived in the Jardin Des Girrafes at a relatively advanced age, having
burrowed out of been pre-owned, first by the Vicarage at Cromer, and then by some other friends who could no longer accommodate her wild, headstrong ways (for many years she was known as Roger, having believed to have been a buck). Refusing to be trammeled by a hutch, she lived free-range disguised as a chicken, scooping out what might still be a foundation-threatening refuge under the garden shed. Utterly fearless, she saw off cats,
other chickens and
Mr G. S. of Glasgow without discrimination.
She must have been at least ten years old when she died. In her last months she went blind from cataracts, and this might have contributed to her last escapade in the pond. She will be missed by Buttons the rabbit, Naughty Pants (Not His Real Name) the cat, and her fitness instructor, Canis croxorum.
She will be sadly misssed. sorry to hear about this, Dr Gee Henry.
ReplyDeleteAFAIK, the only video footage on teh interwebz of Beelzebun Demon Bunny of DOOM can be found here:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvwyqoHx_Qo
I survived, but ONLY just.
Mr G. S. of Glasgow
Thanks, Mr G. S. I knew I could count on you to retrieve that rare footage, obtained - I know - at great personal risk. I shall embed it in the blog.
ReplyDeleteI am saddened to hear this. The world should never be without a Bunny of DOOM. RIP indeed.
ReplyDeletePoor Beelzebun Demon Bunny of DOOM. Cromer never be the same today. Now you can not celebrate the bicentennial of Chile's day with this sad news. However was in evidence that stranger and mysterious record make for Mr G. S. of Glasgow (is funny).
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your loss. I guess ca. 10 years is a good age for a bunny? I hope the other denizens of MDG are all doing well.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P.
ReplyDeleteHow has Canis croxorum taken the news? (and why don't you italicise Canis croxorum?)
Thanks, Frank, she was a very old bunny and had had a good life. The rest of us thrive. Bob - she hasn't noticed, and I don't really know.
ReplyDeleteAlejandro - I am sorry that this sad news has tainted celebrations in Chile. Will you fly the flags at half mast? Will the President wear a black armband?
ReplyDeleteSorry Henry - and all the other croxii.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cath. I know she was only a bunny, but she was a fixture of our garden scene for many years. Dang it, I miss the old girl. Her companion in her last months was Buttons, a young doe, who has been lolloping about, plainly looking for her friend.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, sorry to hear this. Will there be Doom II?
ReplyDeleteWe have Buttons and her offspring Bart (there's a story in itself) but neither seem particularly laden with DOOM.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't make it those very b......., but honestly I'm sorry Henry. Croxi's are sad?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alejandro. Yes, we're sad - but we have so many animals, and the Croxii have seen dead ones before, so they are not TOO sad.
ReplyDelete"...and the Croxii have seen dead ones before".
ReplyDeleteQuite. If I recall correctly, I attended the eco-funeral of a Croxii member at the Jardin Des Girrafes earlier this year.
"They come, they go", but she was...... special. I am so proud of the scars I have on one of my fingers. I am off to a tattoo parlour next week to have "Beelzebun Demon Bunny of DOOM did this" etched on it. Hhmm, what type of rabbit font should I go for?
My legal department (Amjit, he runs a fine grocery store just round the corner) has just DM tweeted me to point out that when I referred to "a Croxii member", I did of course mean "non human denizens of MDG".
ReplyDeleteThank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
++message ends++
Graham, you have my sympathies. I share your pain at this difficult time, especially as we both bear scars of rodent attack.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Henry.
ReplyDelete"So true, funny how it seems....why do I find it hard to write the next line? Huh huh huh hu-hu huh" etc. etc.
Whistled only on a Thursday (terms and conditions may apply to different service providers outwith Glasgow, Chile and Cromer).
